It was 26th January, 2010.
The very first day when I tried my hands on “Cube-Art”. Yep, it’s creating art with the Rubik’s Cubes.
The venue was set to be K-star mall, Chembur.
The Occasion was Technovanza 2010 publicity round in malls!
and so we started:
As this was the first time, we had to unwrap all the 1000 odd cubes from the plastic. Well, surely painful, but the team was all pumped up and looking forward. After all, this was the first ever cube-art made in India! 🙂
Once we had enough cubes ready to be placed, I took a general measurement and decided the position for the art. We put the barricades around that area and took seats at planned places.
The design was ready and we had 4 prints. Me, Udai and Anushka took one each. Gulshan and Anjali joined later and used the last one. We were missing an essential weapon, a pen. Yep, you may think it’s trivial, but a pen helps a lot when you ‘cube-art.
I started with the top row. We kept on placing the cubes as per the design and trust me, nobody had any notion of the time. It didn’t take us long to finish it half-way, considering four of us were working together.
But the objective was also to attract the crowd (for the publicity) and it worked wonders. Every person passing by was attracted there like an electromagnet pulling magnetic things around it when powered on.
We took a break when it was almost over and started making announcements.
Soon enough in the excitement of finishing it, we started cheering each other up. Then it hardly took 10 more minutes when only a last we cubes were to be placed. The whole art was looking awesome!
The news was spreading. People started clicking photos and we started posing. 🙂
The whole idea worked out so well! I was amazed myself to see the art! 🙂
Maan! we were surely up to something nice and never seen before in India!
The whole Techno publicity team posed before it.
And then we had to remove it! That time I experienced how it feels when you see your hard work being undone in front of your eyes. :p
What a start to the art! 🙂
